Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 23, 2026 (previous versions: April 13, 2026; September 22, 2026 — this revision removes email sign-in, so we no longer collect an email address at all)

Beef ("the App") is operated by Rooney Industries LLC (Littleton, CO, USA). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how to delete it.

What we collect

• An anonymous account identifier — created for you when you first open the app. It is a random id tied to that installation. We do not ask for an email address, a phone number or a password, and we do not have one for you.
• First name — shown to people you beef with. You set this during onboarding.
• The content of your disputes — the positions you write, the verdicts and roasts the AI judge returns, who won.
• Head-to-head records — win/loss counts between you and people you've beefed with.
• Device push token — so we can notify you when a verdict is rendered or someone joins your beef. Stored only if you grant notification permission.
• Timestamps — when the account was created, when a dispute was created and resolved.

What we do NOT collect

• Email addresses, phone numbers or passwords
• Location
• Contacts
• Camera, microphone, or photo library access
• Web browsing or app usage analytics
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Health data

Where your data goes

• Supabase (our backend). Hosts your account, profile, and disputes. See Supabase privacy policy.
• Groq (LLM provider). We send the text of both dispute positions to Groq to generate the verdict and roast. We do not send your name or any other identifier alongside the text. See Groq privacy policy.
• Apple / Google push services, if you've enabled notifications. Only the push token and the verdict notification body go through them.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep your data

We keep your disputes, profile, and head-to-head records until you delete your account. When you delete your account, we remove:

• Your profile
• Your push tokens
• All disputes where you are the creator or opponent
• Your head-to-head records
• Your authentication record

This happens within 7 days of your deletion request.

How to delete your account

Open the app → Settings → Delete my account. See also our data deletion page.

Because accounts are anonymous, deleting the app's data or uninstalling it also ends your access to that account permanently — we hold no email or phone number that would let us find it again, so we cannot restore it and cannot delete it on request after the fact. Delete from inside the app if you want the server-side records removed.

Age

Beef is an 18+ service. It is not directed at children or teenagers, and you must be 18 or older to create an account — the app contains AI-generated roasts and user-submitted arguments that may include mature language. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.

Content moderation

We run user-submitted positions through a safety classifier (Groq's gpt-oss-safeguard-20b) before showing them to the AI judge. Disputes containing hate speech, explicit harassment of real people, threats of violence, or sexual content involving minors are rejected.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or similar laws: access, correction, deletion, and portability of your data. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and prompt you to review it the next time you open the app.
